Episode 035. Living on the Edge is back this week thanks to Chu Yeow. Also this week I put together an out-takes reel (which you can find at the bottom of this post). These are a few items that got cut from the original podcast, because... well.. they weren't appropriate. You'll want to listen to the podcast before you listen to the out-takes, or they may not make any sense.

Confs are expensive for a poor student like me who needs that fee money for gas.

I’m going to start a Poor Man’s Ruby Conf that will take place on ustream.tv. Then everyone can attend! Except those on dialup or without internet.

P.S. good podcast.

Elliott, cool idea about ustream.tv, here are two more cheap ideas:

1. Create a RubyCamp in your local community to bring all the Ruby programmers together (with no entrance fee).

2. Submit talks to the conferences you want to go to. As a speaker you get free admission. ;-)

Haha, love the new sound effects for Giant Robots—however we actually HAVE a blog called “tiny robots cuddling with other tiny robots” – http://tinyrobots.thoughtbot.com/

Hey guys.

Love the podcast, but can you back the audio compression off a little. Please! It makes it a bit hard to listen to – you sound a bit like you both have colds. A slower attack time and a gentler ratio would do the trick.

Gregg,

1. Sounds like a good enough idea, assuming I can rally enough Ruby programmers together where I live (honestly I don’t know how it would go) 2. That would be awesome, but I just don’t think I’ve gone guru enough to give a (worthwhile) talk and actually know what I’m talking about!

What, are you guys embarrassed to admit to doing the HoeDown?

Regardless, see you there.

Hi, dragon with nightmares is back! ;-)

If you installed apache upload progress module, please upgrade to at least 0.1 version: http://github.com/drogus/apache-upload-progress-module/commits/0.1

I fixed 2 nasty bugs which could stop reporting progress in some cases.
